This thread is for questions and advice on how to do something. We'll put up things as we think of them but if anyone else knows how to do something and we haven't got round to putting it in here, please feel free to add to it.

And you'd like to know how to do something that isn't covered, drop us a query in here and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.  Thumb Up

"Neat" links.

To make a tidy link to another website or perhaps a post on another board in this forum, type as per the following example (without the space after the first "url"):-

Type whatever you want to appear in the forum here

Doing this for real, for example to link to the LL home page, type as follows (without the space again):-

Home Page

This would then appear as:-

Home Page

Posting photos from Photobucket

Once you've found the photo you want, you need the "IMG" code. We've set up the Lovelees photobucket so that this is the only code displaying but if you have your own Photobucket it may still show all the codes. The IMG code should be the 4th one down.

Click on the IMG code beneath the photo to highlight it, right click your mouse and select "Copy".

Return to the posting window you've opened on our site, right click your mouse again and select "Paste".

The code for your picture will be displayed and when you hit the "Post" button the picture itself will show in your post.

Heres how to cut quotes (I have used round brackets as squares ones just posted what I was trying to show)

When quoting you are faced with a quote that looks like this

(quote author=llewop link=topic=1075.msg1063920#msg1063920 date=1244652681)
(quote author=llewop link=topic=1075.msg1063919#msg1063919 date=1244652605)
(quote author=llewop link=topic=1075.msg1063917#msg1063917 date=1244652372)
(quote author=llewop link=topic=1075.msg1063916#msg1063916 date=1244652340)
(quote author=llewop link=topic=1075.msg1063915#msg1063915 date=1244652291)
(quote author=llewop link=topic=1075.msg1063914#msg1063914 date=1244652255)
(quote author=Blue Topaz link=topic=1075.msg935111#msg935111 date=1233696955)
You can use this thread to test anything you want to try out. See how a new banner looks, practise reducing quotes - anything you want to have a bash at before you head to the main threads.  Thumb Up

You then highlight the quotes and posters no longer required ie

(quote author=llewop link=topic=1075.msg1063919#msg1063919 date=1244652605)

(quote author=llewop link=topic=1075.msg1063916#msg1063916 date=1244652340)
(quote author=llewop link=topic=1075.msg1063915#msg1063915 date=1244652291)

To send a PM (Private Message) to someone, you have a couple of options...

1. If you can see a post of theirs on a thread, click on the "speech bubble" icon under their avatar picture (or under their username if they don't have an avatar picture).

2. Click on the "My Messages" heading in the dark blue menu bar towards the top of your screen. This takes you directly into your Messages page, where you will be able to see all the messages you have received and not yet deleted. Click on the "New Message" heading in the left hand menu list and this will bring up an empty messge box for you to use. You can either type in the member's name or you can search for it if you aren't sure of it.

3. Click on the "members" heading in the dark blue menu bar towards the top of your screen. This takes oyu into the members list. Page through the list until you find the name of the member you want to send the PM to. Click on their username to bring up a summary page of their profile. Click on the "Send personal message" heading in the left hand menu list. This will bring up an empty message box with the name of the member already populated.

Please note that you will only be able to read and send PMs when you are logged in to the forum.

We'd be grateful if everyone would regularly prune both their Inbox and Outbox to keep messages down to a reasdonable level, since storing pages and pages of them affects the amount of database space we take up.

Hi, I've been trying to get into the Lee jigsaw puzzles but can't see how you get past the screen for creating your own ones. I'm sure that you used to be able to click on the hyperlinks in Lee puzzles and they would take you straight into a puzzle but that doesn't seem to happen anymore. Can anyone help?

I had the same problem recently LB - I think the site has probably cleared out their archives and the old links no longer work.

The URL (web address) is what shows in the field up top where you type the address of the website you want to visit, i.e.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmBb0WfOj2Y (which is Lee's winning ADWD performance)

So if you go to the YouTube vid you want to download, then right click in the addres field, select Copy and then right click in the field in YouTube Downloader where you want to put it and select Paste ...

or something vaguely like that!  Laughing Laughing
